IAEP Leaders From Around the Country Join Together for Training

June 23, 2010

Leaders from IAEP locals around the country recently joined together at IAEP Headquarters in Quincy, Massachusetts for a training and leadership conference.

During the two-day conference, leaders received in-depth training from longtime labor consultant Paul McCarthy as well as advanced steward training from IAEP Chief Negotiator Dick Anderson.  Following the training, attendees also joined the NAGE National Executive Board for their June 18 meeting.

“This training session was a huge success thanks to the interest and participation from our local leaders,” said IAEP Director of Servicing Steve Weigand.  “I am looking forward to holding more universal training sessions throughout the future as a part of the IAEP’s continued focus on training our leaders and improving the way we service our locals.”

Attendees received training on such topics as becoming an effective union leader in a hostile labor environment, advanced communication skills for union leaders, how to best prepare for collective bargaining and better understanding the grievance and arbitration process.
