EMS Professionals with Stamford EMS Take Part in Annual Charity Basketball Game

June 10, 2010

Members of Local R1-684, EMS professionals with Stamford EMS of Connecticut, recently held their annual charity basketball game at Stamford High School.

“I commend the members of the Stamford Paramedics Association for their continued dedication to improving the communities in which they live and serve year in and year out,” said IAEP Director of Servicing Steve Weigand.  “This event is always a fun time for the whole family.”

Every year Local 684 members join together to help raise money for numerous charitable causes, including local youth athletic leagues and community improvement projects.  During this year’s event Local 684 members once again took the court as the Stamford Medics to renew their rivalry against the Harlem Superstars.  The Superstars are a group of basketball players who travel the country performing at numerous fundraisers.

“I thank everyone who came out had fun and helped make this fundraiser a success,” said Local 684 President Jim Duffy.  “Of course, we couldn’t beat the professionals on the Harlem Superstars, but we had a great time on the court and we always look forward to taking part in this event.”
