EMS Professionals in California Mourn Loss of Firefighting Brethren

September 9, 2009

The members of IAEP Locals 77 and 187, EMS professionals with AMR of Los Angeles and Antelope Valley, California, are mourning the recent losses of Captain Tedmund D. Hall and Firefighter Specialist Arnaldo Quinones of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

While Hall and Quinones were not EMS professionals, members of both Locals 77 and 187 frequently worked alongside them and held a great mutual respect for their brothers in public safety. The two firefighters were killed in a crash while helping their brothers and sisters battle the massive "Station Fire" in the Los Angeles National Forrest. Hall had been with county fire for 26 years, while Quinones had been with the department for eight years.

"The IAEP extends its condolences to the families and coworkers of these brave men," said IAEP National Director Matthew Levy. "Our members and their brothers and sisters in public safety are asked to place themselves in dangerous situations every day. Unfortunately men like Captain Hall and Quinones often make the ultimate sacrifice while performing their duties."

A memorial service for both men will take place at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on Saturday, September 12 and will begin at 10:00 am PST. Donations are also currently being accepted by the F&A Federal Credit Union "Memorial Fund," which can be reached at P.O. Box 30831, Los Angeles, CA 90030-9972.
